Call for delegates

11 February 2008

AIA National Convention, Boston

As every year, AIACE representatives will attend the AIA National Convention, to be held in Boston, MA, from May 15 to May 17, 2008. During the event, elections will be held for the National board positions for the next calendar year.

As many delegates can represent the Chapter as are physically present at the AIA convention in Boston and as are appropriately credentialed; up to a third of our delegation can be International Associate or Associate members. Although the number of Chapter votes at the convention (calculated as a factor of the number of Chapter members) does not change with the number of delegates, it is desirable to have more delegates, rather than fewer delegates, because this offers more chances for meeting other delegates and persuading them to take positions of interest to us. Delegates must be present for the convention business sessions and must vote for AIA officers.

If you plan to attend the AIA National Convention and would like to be a delegate, please send a message to Charles Croigny, AIA indicating your interest. Charles will then send you the delegate’s card necessary for the convention. For all of you who intend to register for the Convention, as delegates or not, remember to sign up soon, as I understand that the hotels on the AIA list are filling fast.

If you can not attend this year, but it seems like something you might be interested in, you may wish to note the venues and the dates for future conventions. Upcoming AIA National convention dates are:

2009 San Francisco April 30-May 2
2010 Miami June 10-12
2011 New Orleans May 12-14
2012 Washington, DC May 17-19

Very best regards, Steven Scamihorn, AIA 2008 President, AIA Continental Europe
