Documents provided by Steven Miller, AIACE conference chair for Dubai: The Survival Guide for Architects: Recession and Recovery, are available for download from the left side-bar of all AIACE pages for the Dubai conference and chapter meeting. Included are a plan of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center, a welcome letter from Steven which includes details on conference logistics and a final program for print or reference on your portable electronic device. Copies of these documents will also be available at the AIACE reception on Sunday, 4 October.

4-6 October 2009, AIA International Conference, Dubai International Exhibition Centre
AIA members have until 3 September to register for Cityscape Dubai: World Architecture Congress, for the reduced price of $350. At least 18 CEUs will be available — 7 in sustainable design. Available hotels near the convention center have rooms starting as low as 115 euros.
Questions regarding registrations should be sent to register@iirme.com. In addition to the program of the World Architecture Congress, the AIA program includes a Continental Europe chapter meeting on Sunday afternoon, 4 October, a reception that evening, dinner on 6 October and an exclusive boat tour of the Palm Island on Wednesday afternoon.
For details and additions to the program as they become available, attendees are encouraged to consult aiaeurope.org.

With a program which will earn 8 HSW AIA/CES learning units, Italy section director Esteban Cruz, Assoc. AIA, is pleased to announce the start of registration for New Architecture in Milan & Tuscany. Early registration ends 3 September; space is limited. With enough registrants, a chapter meeting will be planned for the Sunday morning following the event.

Italy section mini-conference survey
Italy section director Esteban Cruz, Assoc. AIA, is developing an Italy section event/chapter mini-conference for 10-11 October 2008, New Architecture in Milan and Tuscany. In order to proceed (a minimum attendance is required to make the event successful), he seeks input from members to gauge likely attendance. Answers to the survey neither commit nor guarantee a place for those responding; registration will open at a later date.
Before 6 July, even if unlikely to attend, all members are kindly asked to complete this very short survey.

Athens: Ecology + Environment + Architecture
Registration for the 10-13 April 2008 AIA Continental Europe International Conference and Chapter Meeting, "Athens: Ecology + Environment + Architecture", is now open. Early registration ends 13 February 2008. Conference organizing committee chair Elias Messinas, Int'l. Assoc. AIA notes:
The word is out in Greece at EuroCharity and Ecology-Salonika!
I was assured that [the conference] will be publicized in the next TEE newsletter. On 17/1, the newspaper where I write will have something on the conference & a press release will go out shortly before the 17th with Ecoweek activity and the AIACE conference. Also, magazines of architecture that are coming out later this month will contain information on the conference.
[W]e expect the AIACE conference to be on the UIA website and newsletter shortly. The same with the DETAIL e-newsletter this month.
In other words, the word is out! Let's get the registration online and let's start rolling!

AIA of Ecoweek and AIA Continental Europe is pleased to provide a closer look at the upcoming chapter meeting and conference, Athens: Ecology + Environment + Architecture . Meeting at Turin event details Athens 2008
Following the commitments of the 2007 Brussels Conference and Chapter Meeting, AIACE Chapter President Karl Hartnack, AIA and President-elect Steve Scamihorn, AIA organized a (not-quite-then committee) meeting to discuss the 2008 Athens Conference. Coinciding with the Turin, Italy section event, Elias Messinas, Int’l. Assoc. AIA, (Athens Conference Chair) traveled from Greece to present his plan for the 2008 Chapter Meeting and Conference.
While a quorum was not quite achieved, five Board members and the International Committee Chair attended, plus a number of chapter members.
The trip was certainly not all work and no play, thanks in no small part to the Turin event organizer Giuliana Barbano, Int’l. Assoc. AIA and our generous host of the meeting, Dante Salmè, Int’l. Assoc. AIA.

Brussels conference program finalized
The final program of the 10-13 May 2007 AIACE conference in Brussels provides 16 CES learning units and ample opportunity to connect with chapter members, sponsors and guests. The chapter business meeting has been moved to Sunday afternoon to enable more members to attend — AIA Continental Europe relies on member input and volunteer hours for all of its programs and activities.
Charles Croigny, AIA, the member behind the Brussels conference, is offering a special conference registration option: attend Saturday and Sunday only for €200 (members and guests alike). Sharing the same fine value as a full registration, this two-day registration is tailored to encourage attendees who look for the chance to connect with the chapter and maintain a full work week.

Karl Hartnack, AIA, 2007 Chapter President, extends his personal invitation for chapter members to attend this year’s Annual Chapter Meeting and Conference, 10-13 May in Brussels. While the UK/Design Build event in September provides some balance for this year’s nearby learning opportunities, only in Brussels will the Chapter hold its full annual meeting.
