Euro 2008 lecture series
As complement to the UEFA Euro 2008, Daniel Herren, AIA, has been active in organizing a lecture series about stadiums: postcard (pdf), poster (pdf). The lectures are free and open to all. AIA members attending can earn self-reported LU’s.

Basel event registration
Space and time are still available to register for the Basel, Switzerland section event, Architecture in Public-Private Partnerships: Bridging the Gap, scheduled for Friday, 30 March 2007. The event organizers ask that registrations be received before 16 March. Attendees can expect to earn up to 6 CES credits (to be confirmed).

Basel event rescheduled
Last autumn’s Switzerland Section Event, Architecture in Public-Private Partnerships: Bridging the Gap, has been rescheduled for Friday, 30 March 2007. Maureen Reinertsen, AIA and Lee Luxford, Assoc. AIA (co-directors of the AIA Continental Europe Switzerland Section in 2006) anticipate an award of 6 CES LU’s for attendees at this Basel-based event. AIACE and SIA members are kindly asked to register before 16 March.

Daniel Herren, AIA delivers a lecture with slides for the Architectural Forum Bern on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 - 18h30 at the Kornhausforum Bern. Titled “Architecture in Los Angeles - Images by a City visitor” he will speak about the “Architecture and City Culture in Southern California, Reminiscenses of the ‘well known’ — the ‘new’ seen from a critical angle”. Tadao Ando: Potential of Architecture
Switzerland Section Directors Maureen Reinertsen and Lee Luxford write to inform members of a lecture by Tadao Ando in Basel for 16 December 2005. The lecture, in Japanese with translation into German, is free and open to the public. Attnedance wil earn at least one AIA/CES credits. Members with questions and interest about obtaining credits should please contact either Maureen or Lee by 10 December. The appropriate CES forms will be on hand the night of the event for those who request them in advance.
The architect will speak about his work, offering a glimpse into the background of his design process. Ando’s first building in Europe was the Conference Centre at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany. Tadao Ando Architect & Associates are currently working on the design for a building for the Novartis Campus scheduled to open in 2008.
The lecture takes place on Friday, 16 December 2005 at 18h00 in the Great Festival Hall of the Basel Trade Fair complex. The introduction will be made by City Council Member Barbara Schneider, Chairman of the Basel City Building Department. A reading from Werner Blaser’s book “Die Nähe des Fernen” completes the evening. Attendees will have an opportunity to buy a copy of the book signed by Tadao Ando.

Basel: Exhibit and Lecture Series
As suggested on the occasion the first AIA Continental Europe (AIACE) Swizterland Section continuing education event at the Novartis Campus in Basel, March 2004, AIACE Switzerland Section Co-directors Maureen Reinertsen and Lee Luxford are working to provide opportunities to gather for architectural events that allow for continuing education credits.
