14:00 – Bus Departs Florence for those not driving

15:00 - Tour of Cantina Antinori by Archea Associates, located near Florence

17:00 - Bus Leave for Montepulciano

19:00 - Opening reception

21:00 - Dinner in a local contrada


Saturday, August 26, 2017

9:30 - Opening session. With Medici Patronage, the noble families of Montepulciano engage some of the finest architects of the 16th century to trans­form a Medieval Tuscan Hill town into the “Pearl of the Renaissance”

10:30 - Coffee break

10:45 - Walking tour of the oldest part of Montepul­ciano Piazza Grande and Upper town

12:45 - Light Lunch

13:30 - Continue walking tour

14:00 - Project presentation and site visit. Fortezza Restoration/Adaptive Reuse Project

16:30 - Walking tour of lower Montepulciano with visits to a couple of historic buildings and wine cellars / tasting rooms

18:30 - Break

19:30 - Reception at home of Section Chair Royce Lanier

Sample older wines from the wine cellar

21:00 – ‘Gala’ Dinner (casual) at a local restaurant

9:30 - Morning Coffee/Pastries at Caffé Politziano

11:00 – Site Visit to Small Residential Project

12:30 – Tour San Biagio, Renaissance Masterpiece of Antonio da Sangallo the Elder

13:30 – End of Planned Program

 

On your own In Montepulciano – Come Early – Stay Late

Spend all or part of the day in Montepulciano. This is the final day of a festival week in town with activities all day.
